Theatre 199 Web site for Bulgaria’s Most Iconic Chamber Theatre
A Digital Home for a Theatre Defined by Intimacy and Excellence
Theatre 199 “Valentin Stoichev” — the most distinguished chamber theatre in Sofia, a cultural landmark known for intimate performances, exceptional actors, and a unique atmosphere that audiences describe simply as: “This can happen only at Theatre 199.” Our task was to translate this atmosphere into a digital environment that feels as focused and emotionally charged as the theatre itself.
Designing a Flexible Digital Structure for a Non‑Traditional Theatre Model
Unlike most theatres, Theatre 199 has no permanent troupe or fixed artistic team. Each production is created by a unique ensemble. This required a system capable of organizing performances by genre, status, and lifecycle — allowing administrators to seamlessly manage premieres, tours, and archives while maintaining clarity for the audience.
A Visual Framework That Balances Identity and Versatility
We built a structure that adapts to radically different types of productions — from experimental chamber theatre to children’s matinées. The interface follows the theatre’s graphic identity but remains neutral enough to host contrasting artistic worlds. A modular layout, clear hierarchy, and dynamic visual accents create a digital space that feels both elegant and alive.
A Unified Digital Experience for a Theatre with Many Voices
The final platform brings coherence to a theatre defined by diversity. Productions are easy to navigate, the program is intuitive, and the visual identity remains consistent across genres. The result is a digital presence that reflects the spirit of Theatre 199 — intimate, refined, and unmistakably artistic.
