Puppet Theatre – Plovdiv A Web Site and Visual Identity for One of Bulgaria’s Most Celebrated Puppet Theatres
A Theatre With History, Reimagined for the Digital Present
Founded in 1946, the State Puppet Theatre Plovdiv is one of Bulgaria’s most awarded and influential puppet theatres. With over 350 titles, international recognition and a repertoire for all ages, the institution needed a digital presence that reflects its scale, legacy and contemporary artistic energy.
Creating the Third Generation of a Platform We’ve Built Since 2005
This is our third version of the theatre’s website. The institution has grown, the repertoire has expanded, and the expectations for digital functionality have changed. The new platform had to be more than a presentation — it had to become a working tool: repertoire system, ticketing, festival information, artist profiles and internal connections between all elements. Alongside the platform, we refined and modernized the theatre’s visual identity.
A Modern Digital System for a Dynamic Repertoire
The new website meets contemporary standards for accessibility, structure and speed. It offers a complete overview of the repertoire, direct ticket reservations, and a dedicated section for the international festival. The architecture remains flat and intuitive, while internal links between plays, schedule and artists create fast, logical user paths.
A Refined Identity Rooted in a Historic Symbol
The original logo from the 1970s is iconic but no longer aligned with modern digital requirements. We preserved its spirit and geometry, rebuilt it with precise proportions, and developed a full typographic and color system. The new brandbook became a practical tool for the theatre’s designers and ensured a consistent visual language across posters, merchandise, social media and print materials.
A Digital Presence That Honors the Past and Serves the Future
The third version of the website unites tradition and innovation. It respects the theatre’s history while providing a flexible, functional and contemporary platform — a digital stage worthy of an institution with nearly eight decades of artistic legacy.
